‘The Woods’ Becomes More Scary As It Morphs Into ‘Blair Witch’

Although it had been rumored – I don’t think many believed it but it turns out that the latest from director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett which to this point has been known as The Woods is in fact, a direct sequel to the iconic The Blair Witch Project and now bares its actual title – Blair Witch.

This, of course, would be the second time this year that this little trick has been pulled on us.  Remember 10 Cloverfield Lane?  In all fairness – a couple of outlets called this about a year ago and it was dismissed in short order – just never know I guess.

Lionsgate let loose with this blockbuster news as they debuted the new trailer – check this beauty out!

September 16th brings this one to theaters and I’ve gotta admit – I’m loving that trailer.

Here’s the official synopsis from Lionsgate:

A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.

James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson all-star.  Advance word is that this one – like the original – is a game changer.  We won’t have to wait long to find out.

Some new poster art also made its debut.  Dig it!
