I hope they give this project an official title soon, The Walking Dead Companion just isn’t doing it for me but it appears as if that lack of a title is having no affect at all on the shows ability to impress its network as AMC announced today that they are committing to a two season run and show creator Robert Kirkman could not be happier.
Two Seasons Confirmed, First Photo Revealed For ‘The Walking Dead Companion’
“We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC,” He goes on to comment further, “I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we’ve accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story. I’m very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven’t scratched the surface yet when it comes to ‘The Walking Dead.'”
With this announcement also came the first official still from the series:
While not a lot of the story line has yet to be revealed, we do know that this version will take place in Los Angeles at the beginning of the zombie outbreak. Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey all lend their considerable talents to the project.
The six episode first season is still slated for a late summer run with the second season heading our way sometime in 2016. Looks like we might be getting The Walking Dead all year round!
