Turns Out That ‘The Cellar’ Is Actually The Sequel To ‘Cloverfield’

Well played Mr. Abrams – well played.

This one has been hiding in plain site for a while now and with a stellar cast and Bad Robot attached – it was certainly one that was going to garner our attention but no one had any clue this was coming.

Titled The Cellar and starring John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead – this is what we knew of the project:

“The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. She does not know what to believe and as tensions rise, she decides she must escape, regardless of the terrors that await outside.”

Okay, sounds pretty good right?  What we didn’t know till this week is that The Cellar is actually the long awaited sequel to Cloverfield – the true title of the film is 10 Cloverfield Lane and the film and we’ve got a trailer –  a poster and a release date.

In this day and age it is nothing short of amazing the Abrams and company we’re able to keep the Cloverfield connection a secret but that makes this whole thing just all that much cooler.

10 Cloverfield Lane hits theaters on March 11th!
