Since 2008, the hit television series True Blood has helped bring Vampires back into the blood red limelight, taking the sexual tension of the Twilight series and injecting it with hardcore Gothic eroticism and the HBO-level of shocking violence. Capitalizing on a more twisted and darker approach than the tremendously successful Twilight epic, the show has kept the brooding hard bodies for years now, boosting the careers of Anna Paquin and Ryan Kwanten whilst making stars out of Alexander Skarsgaard and Stephen Moyer. and added a couple pints of blood to the mix too.
However, news have come down that the HBO series has been confirmed to finally come to an end the summer of 2014, with Season 7, hopefully, wrapping up all lose ends. HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo has the official statement, “True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO. Alan Ball took the books by Charlaine Harris, assembled a brilliant cast led by the magnificent Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie Stackhouse, and crafted a show that has taken its many devoted fans on an unforgettable journey. Alan passed the baton to Brian Buckner, who led our fantastic writers and crew in crafting a spectacular sixth season, and he will lead us through the seventh and final season of this amazing show. Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show.”
Season 6 of True Blood just ended only a couple days ago on August 18th and according to statistics and company reps, remains one of HBO’s most popular television series. Season 6 ended with a gross audience of 10.6 million viewers an episode, above every horror show on television with the sole exception of The Walking Dead. At the end, what will be a 7 season stint will remain one of HBO’s most watched shows and it’s fan base will, hopefully, have answers to all questions they’ve been asking.
