Don’t you hate when similarly tilted flicks are pimping their wares at the same time?  This past week brought us the VOD roll out of Final Girl but today’s news has nothing to do with that title, this is The Final Girls and yes, there is a major difference.  The Final Girls is a bit of time travel tale with an old school slasher film as its base.  It was quite the darling at this year SXSW film festival and the good news today is that I’ve got a trailer and release details to share with you.

From director Todd Strauss-Schulson and American Horror Story mainstay Taissa Farmiga headlines along with Adam DeVine, Thomas Middleditch, Alia Shawkat and Angela Trimbur.

Synopsis is as follows:

“When Max (Taissa Farmiga) and her friends reluctantly attend a screening of “Camp Bloodbath,” an infamous ‘80s cult horror film that starred Max’s late mother (Malin Akerman), they are accidentally sucked into the silver screen. They soon realize they’re trapped inside the movie and must team up with the horny, regan-era idiot “Camp Bloodbath” counselors — including Max’s mom as the shy scream queen — to battle the film’s machete-wielding killer, Billy Murphy. Face to face with her mother for the first time in years, Max has a second chance not only to see her, but to save her, and with the help of her friends, get back home before Billy kills them all.”

A theatrical debut of Oct. 9th has been announced.  Put it on the “must see” list!
