Amongst the pantheon of the Zombie Horror genre comes a Danish, micro budget entry, entitled Escaping The Dead. Inspired by articles on the deathdrug “Krokodil” and the bath salts incidents in Miami, the film, directed by Martin Sonntag and Bastian Brinch Pedersen (the latter of whom is also the lead), follows a day in the life of David, a small time dope pusher, who smokes more than he sells. He and his partner-in-crime, Ahmir, are offered some cheap cocaine and use a techno concert as a means to distribute it. Things take a turn for the worse when the cocaine has a terrible side effect, turning everyone into zombies (oh, no)! David must fight through hoards of the undead and make it out of the city.
Clocking in at 3 minutes and 55 seconds, the trailer shows off many “gruesome” (is that your micro budget showing or are you just happy to see me?) effects, kills, and running around… lots of running. Side note: David looks like a kid I went to high school with. It made me chuckle.
