It’s hard to believe it’s been six years since we were treated to Saw: The Final Chapter and as all of us horror fans are well aware – when you title anything The Final Chapter – it is far from over. Never thought it would take six years – actually seven by the time it’s actually available but word is out that a new film is in the works.
Some major developments over the course of the last few days so – let’s get up to speed, shall we?
The working title of the film is reportedly Saw: Legacy – which would work I guess and word just dropped that The Spierig Brothers will direct. You should recall their work from Daybreakers and Undead and I find them an interesting choice to revive Jigsaw and the gang.
Franchise helmer Leigh Whannell has a hand in scripting duties along with Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger. Horror maven James Wan is executive producing. Now – here’s the kicker – production is slated to kick off Sept. 12th in Toronto and will run through October 21st. Likely looking at Halloween 2017 roll out? Maybe? Possibly?
With production gearing up in literally weeks – we should be getting some casting and story details soon so watch for updates. You think we need another chapter is the SAW tale or is it time for Jigsaw to peddle into the sunset – sound off and let us know what you think.
