The art-house distribution company Kino Lorber announced yesterday that they have just signed a multi-year deal with Palisades Tartan as their exclusive home distributor in the U.S. and Canada. Kino Lorber intends to reintroduce and reissue much of the Palisades Tartan catalog on Blu-ray, digital release formats, and will curate select films for theatrical re-release.
Palisades Tartan established the “Asia Extreme” brand, which has brought films such as Park Chan-Wook’s Oldboy, Yoji Yamada’s epic The Hidden Blade, Shinya Tsukamoto’s Tetsuo: The Iron Man, and many other films to the U.S. market. Not only has Palisades Tartan operated the “Asia Extreme” brand, but they have also distributed award-winning films such as Ulrich Seidl’s Import Export and Andrea Arnold’s Red Road.
Richard Lorber, who negotiated the deal on behalf of Kino Lorber commented, “We are exultant to be able to bring the gems of the Palisades Tartan library back to market on all home entertainment physical and digital platforms. It’s why we exist as a company-these films define our mission.”
CEO of Palisades Tartan, Vin Roberti added, “I’ve admired the companies Richard has built over many years and we feel our carefully curated collection has now found the perfect home at Kino Lorber. They get it and know how to connect with the audiences who do too.”
