krampus-photo-3One of 2015’s most eagerly anticipated genre films was the Micheal Dougherty directed Krampus – the yule tide horror tale that marked Mr. Dougherty’s theatrical release debut and his sophomore attempt at holiday themed horror story telling.  Following up Trick R Treat was always going to be a tall order – but I think Krampus did the trick.  If you didn’t have the opportunity to see it theatrically then the following news will be welcome and if did – then it’s time to add it to your collection.

Krampus will be hitting Blu-ray on April 26th.  If you prefer your collection to be of the digital variety you get to own it a little sooner.  Digital HD hits on April 12th.

The Blu-ray and DVD is going to come at us pretty loaded though.  Check out this list of special features:

Dougherty’s Vision – In this featurette Director Michael Dougherty, along with the film’s cast and crew, reveal how his approach informed the tone, pacing, humor and performances of Krampus.

Emjay Anthony, Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, and Allison Tolman all star in the tale which goes like this:

“When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.

All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.”
