Horror fanatics rejoice, as the team behind Amer is back, with their sophomore effort, The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears. Writer-director duo, Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani burst onto the scene with their first feature, a Belgian-French surrealist thriller Amer. Amer is Giallo-inspired and follows the volatile sexual development of Ana, who lives on the French Riviera. It received generally positive reviews and won various awards, such as the Blade award at the Lund International Fantastic Film Festival in Sweden and the award for the Discovery Motion Picture Diploma at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain. They followed Amer with the short film “O is for Orgasm”, which appeared in The ABC’s of Death to strong critical acclaim. The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears is another Giallo-inspired thriller and stars Klaus Tange, Jean-Michel Vovk, Sylvia Camarda, Sam Louwyck and Anna D’Annunzio.
Strange Colour tells the story of a man who investigates the strange conditions behind his wife’s disappearance. As he goes searching, he falls deeper down the rabbit hole into a world of nightmares and violence. The filmmakers weigh in on the tale stating, “It’s a film which we have worked on for nine years now. It is set in Brussels, where we live, which is particularly known for its Art Nouveau architecture. The film is still produced by the same producers as Amer – Eve Commenge and François Cognard – and the Flemish director / producer Koen Mortier (Ex-Drummer).”
Below are the trailer and the first image of the film, which appears to already be a creepy visual treat. For fans of Amer and “O”, as well as Giallo enthusiasts, Strange Colour will be 2013’s film to watch. Check back to Diabolique for more on The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears!
