New Trailer And Mask Debut For ‘Scream – The Series’

Things have been moving along quickly for the MTV series adaptation of the Scream franchise.  We are fast approaching the June 30th debut and then we’ll all see if they can turn the popular film franchise into a weekly blood romp.

A new trailer made its way online and they’ve actually seemed to up the blood and sex  pretty significantly and we also get our first look at the much talked about new Ghostface mask – we’ll talk about that on the other side of the video.

It appears that they’ve taken the formula that has worked so well in the films and just tweaked it a bit for TV.  Will it work?  We’ll all find out in a few weeks but I have to admit – the trailer was not as horrible as I feared it may be.

Let’s talk about that new mask, here’s a better look:

Certainly a mash up of iconic masks from our slasher past.  There are shades of Jason’s hockey mask – a bit of of good old Michael Myers in there and of course – a little of the Ghostface we’ve come to know and love.  Personally, I could do without the “sex doll” mouth but hey – that’s just my two cents.

Story wise, the series is going to tell this tale:

“After a cyber-bullying incident results in a brutal murder, the shocking violence stirs up memories of a  killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe just inspired a new killer. A group of teens – with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart – become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of a killer who’s out for blood.”

As expected, technology will play a key role in how Ghostface torments his prey this time, as the trailer illustrates.

Bex Taylor-Klaus, Willa Fitzgerald, John Karna, Connor Weil and Amadeus Serafini all star.  Jamie Travis helms the pilot episode.
